Dr. Gaber Mohamed, a PhD researcher in maritime cybersecurity at the Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), is inviting maritime and cybersecurity professionals — including members of our LinkedIn network — to contribute to an academic study on cyber incident management in smart ports. If you work in port operations, OT/IT security, risk management, or maritime research, your perspective can directly shape a framework designed to improve how ports detect, respond to, and recover from cyber incidents.

Ⅰ. About the Research

Research Title: Designing a Cyber Incident Management Framework with Programming Support for Mitigating Operational Risks in Smart Ports.

Questionnaire Title: A Proposed Programming-Based Cybersecurity Framework for Enhancing Incident Response Functions in Smart Ports.

The study aims to develop an integrated cybersecurity framework that strengthens cyber incident management capabilities in smart ports. It evaluates and integrates key practices from internationally recognized cybersecurity frameworks and standards to improve incident identification, response, recovery, and overall operational resilience across the maritime sector. The survey itself is designed to collect expert opinions and professional assessments on the importance, relevance, and suitability of the proposed framework components — responses will be used exclusively for academic research purposes.

Ⅳ. Why Your Voice Matters

Frameworks validated by practitioners — not just theorized in isolation — are far more likely to hold up in real port operations. As a member of this community, your professional judgment on which cybersecurity practices actually matter for incident detection, response, and recovery gives this research the practical grounding it needs.

Know a colleague working in port cybersecurity, maritime OT, or risk management? Sharing this survey within your own network — including LinkedIn groups — helps broaden the diversity of expert input this research depends on.

Thank you for your time, support, and contribution to advancing cybersecurity research in the maritime domain. I look forward to your feedback and greatly appreciate your help in connecting with the maritime professional community.

Best regards,
Gaber Mohamed
