It has been about four years since I stepped away from the shipbuilding industry, yet now I find myself dreaming the same dreams once again.
This renewed journey was made possible thanks to MOL, ClassNK, who offered me this invaluable opportunity.
As I begin my role —building the MCH organization from the ground up—today marks a meaningful milestone: my very first sales meeting with MOL as our initial shipowner engagement.
I sincerely hope that MCH will grow into a global leader in maritime cybersecurity, not only within ASEAN but across the world.

What This Meeting Meant
MOL — Mitsui O.S.K. Lines — is one of the world's largest shipping conglomerates, operating a fleet spanning bulk carriers, tankers, container ships, LNG carriers, and car carriers. A first engagement with a shipowner of this scale is not just a business meeting. It is a signal that what we are building matters.
The focus of that first meeting was maritime cybersecurity compliance — specifically how IACS Unified Requirements E26 and E27 affect newbuild projects and existing fleets. Shipowners like MOL are now required to ensure that vessels and the on-board equipment supplied by their yards and OEMs meet defined cybersecurity standards. The challenge is that most shipowners are not cybersecurity specialists. They need a trusted partner who can translate the classification society requirements into practical engineering outcomes.
MCH — Maritime Cyber Hub — is being built to be exactly that. The vision is a regional centre of expertise capable of supporting shipowners, shipyards, and system suppliers across ASEAN and beyond, with deep knowledge of IACS URs, class society audit processes, and the technical realities of shipboard OT systems.
After four years away from the shipbuilding world, walking back in through a different door — as a cybersecurity specialist rather than a production engineer — has been one of the stranger and more rewarding experiences of my professional life. The industry has changed. And so have I.
